Dunham Tool manufactures precision spindle headstocks which are available as complete spindle headstock assemblies and can be equipped with collet actuators or chuck actuators and pulleys as optional attachments. Dunham Tool's 50m precision spindle headstock assemblies can be used with a variety of standard and special workholding fixtures, and Dunham Tool will provide the spindle adapter to accommodate your workholding specification. The 50m precision spindle is designed to accept and actuate 5c collets directly. These spindles will also accept 1c collet, 3c collet and r8 collet sizes and manual collet actuators. Our precision spindles are designed for use in and on a variety of mounting platforms, either horizontal or vertical.

The highly accurate Dunham Tool centric precision spindle headstock line now includes models to allow the creation of small polishing machines, special lathes and 5c collet, 1c collet and 3c collet equipment in the tool room or machine shop. They can also be used as accurate inspection heads, lathes or grinders, or as aids in building new equipment.

Using a 5c collet, 1c collet, or 3c collet, precision spindle capacities range from 1/64" to 1 1/16" for OD holding, 3/4" to 6" for step chucks OD holding and 1/4" to 6" for ID holding with expanding collets.

Each model is available with either plain nose or 4⁰ taper nose (which accepts closing rings for Hardinge step chucks up to 6" diameter). Precision spindle headstock assemblies include a standard unit with nut closer for through work or a standard unit with quick-acting lever collet closer. Additionally, the precision spindle headstock can include a Dunham Tool air collet closer with vee or timing belt pulley.

In all models, the pre-loaded ball bearing spindle is guaranteed within 0.00005" TIR.
